The Magness Institute develops managerial expertise in the cable industry through education and practical applications.

Through The Magness Institute, The Cable Center presents outstanding academic seminars, lecture series, and coursework. The Institute partners with academia to offer customized cable industry training courses concentrating on accounting and finance, Cable 101, and others. And by deploying state-of-the-art technology, the Institute provides opportunities for faculty and students to engage in distance learning.

The Magness Institute also brings together leading US academics with cable industry executives and prominent journalists in panel discussions and forums. These panel discussions concentrate on new technology, regulation, and distance learning programs utilizing cable technology.

The Magness Institute was established through a fundraising campaign spearheaded by Liberty Global Chairman, John Malone, in honor of his deceased partner, TCI founder Bob Magness.
