The Academic Seminar was sponsored by The Cable Center in conjunction with the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) National Show. This annual seminar is the only venue for national scholars to meet and dialogue with key cable executives and to learn about ongoing business developments within the industry.

Participants at the Academic Seminar:

  • Obtained leading edge knowledge and insights directly from cable and media industry professionals

Book Award »
The Book Award was open to all individuals who have published a book related to cable television during the past year. This year's winner was End of the Line : The Rise and Fall of AT&T by Leslie Cauley. More Winners »

Competitive Paper/Abstract »
This award rewarded original research in cable and telecommunications, in all areas including, but not limited to: economics, law/policy, engineering/technology, finance, audience studies, social effects, history, marketing, management, programming, and international. This year's winners were listed on the program.

Dissertation Research Grant »
This grant was intended to support and encourage Ph.D. candidates conducting research addressing issues of significance to cable and broadband telecommunications. This year's winner was David Souder of the University of Minnesota. More Winners »

ABOUT THE NATIONAL SHOW
Cable Education and Research

The National Show was NCTA's 55th annual convention, scheduled April 9-11, 2006, in Atlanta, Georgia. The Show was the nation's pre-eminent gathering for the cable and telecommunications industry, attracting cable operators, technology and programming companies, equipment suppliers, and service providers.
