Evan Shapiro, executive vice president and general manager of The Independent Film Channel (IFC) visited DePaul University in Chicago on Monday, October 8, as part of The Cable Center's Cable Mavericks Lecture Series. Over the course of the day, Shapiro presented to over 100 students in Intro to Mass Communications and Intro to Television, Radio, and Film classes.
Shapiro provided a provocative, funny, and strategic presentation with personal insight into the world of IFC's original content and commitment to the freedom of expression. One DePaul student commented: "Evan encouraged us to pursue the things in life that we find truly captivating, saying that when 'you do something you love, you do it well.' He is a prime example!" In his presentation, Shapiro also included never-before-seen footage of IFC's new, original programming.
