Graduate students from Fordham Business enjoyed a lively presentation from Chris McCumber, EVP, Marketing and Brand Strategy. USA Network is consistently top rated in the industry with original programs like The Starter Wife, Monk, and Psych to name a few.

Chris couldn’t resist opening the presentation with a conversation he overhead while making a quick visit to the restroom. A young man was on his cell phone, telling his friend that he wasn’t looking forward to the lecture, “it’s some guy from USA Network,” he didn’t like the last guest speaker, and so on. The audience laughed and looked quizzically about the room to see if they could identify the young man. Chris said he appreciated the guy sticking around and hoped he would feel differently after the presentation. We’re pleased to report that the student approached Chris afterwards, apologized, and said how much he enjoyed the lecture.
Many of the audience members at Fordham were working MBA candidates, leading Chris to present a case study of the USA Network. He kept the audience engaged with terrific video samples and statistics from the 1980s to the present, business challenges, solutions, how they got to “Characters Welcome,” monetizing the brand, results, and future strategy.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Chris and his team created a dozen or so trivia questions for the audience and those with correct answers were awarded with some impressive network premium items, including a complete DVD set of all Al Pacino movies. All attendees received a USA Network - Characters Welcome baseball hat and pens. The network also generously sponsored the post event reception.
