Doug Hurst
Senior Vice President and General Manager of Non-Linear Distribution, Scripps Networks                            

Doug Hurst took over as senior vice president and general manager of non-linear distribution in January 2007.  His responsibilities are to manage Scripps Networks’ relationships with non-linear distributors, which include websites, mobile services, video on demand, syndicated broadband and download to own video services. He also will set and oversee the company’s strategic framework regarding content delivery via non-linear platforms, as well as manage major policies, operating procedures and financial goals in that area.

Hurst, who was part of the original team that launched HGTV, was serving as senior vice president of affiliate marketing and Scripps On Demand where he oversaw all affiliate marketing activities for the company’s leading lifestyle brands including HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, FINE LIVING, Great American Country (GAC) and Scripps Networks On Demand.  In this role he was responsible for establishing affiliate marketing strategies and direction.  Hurst also was vice president of marketing and promotion for HGTV, where he oversaw the execution of the annual HGTV Dream Home Giveaway™, which continues to be the network’s largest integrated promotion.

Hurst is an active member of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing where he serves on the On Demand Consortium committee, CTAM Summit planning committee and as Chair of the 2007 MARK Awards.

Hurst joined HGTV in 1994 as a regional manager in the network’s Detroit affiliate sales office. In 1996, he was promoted to senior director of the western region, and relocated to HGTV’s Los Angeles office.  A year later, Hurst came to Knoxville as HGTV’s senior director of marketing and sales promotions.

Before joining HGTV, Hurst held various affiliate sales and marketing positions at American Movie Classics in their Chicago and Los Angeles offices.

Hurst has a B.S. in management from Purdue University. He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Knoxville.
