Carol Mechanic
SVP, Programming, Showtime Networks

Carol Mechanic, Senior Vice President of Programming at Showtime Networks, is responsible for communicating programming information across all of SNI’s constituencies—both within the organization and among the company’s key customers. Her responsibilities include working within the programming group to optimize brand development and new product extensions. She also works closely with Marketing, Creative Services, Corporate Communications, Sales and Affiliate Marketing and New
Business Development to position the current program slate and to develop appropriate marketing and public relations campaigns around those original films and series. In an increasingly competitive marketplace, Carol also plays a critical role in communicating Showtime programming agendas and the value of the Showtime brands to the affiliate base. She is the primary liaison from the programming group to the field sales and marketing organization of Showtime Networks.

Prior to her promotion to the Programming Department in 1998, Carol held various positions in Showtime’s Sales and Marketing organization, most recently as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Western Region. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing all sales, marketing, affiliate relations and administrative activities for Showtime Networks' Western Region office. In addition to the cable business, she also managed sales and marketing activity for pay per view, MMDS, HTVRO and telephone companies.

Prior to managing the Regional activities, Mechanic held the position of Director, National Accounts for Showtime Networks Inc. from 1986 to 1988, where she was responsible for marketing to the nation's largest MSOs and their operating partnerships. Prior to that, she was Regional Director, responsible for sales and marketing efforts in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. She joined the company in 1984 as Manager of Regional Accounts.

Mechanic began her career in the cable industry with Home Box Office, where she served as Account Executive from 1980 to 1982. From 1982 to 1983, she was Manager, National Accounts at Group W Satellite Communications. Prior to joining the cable industry, Ms. Mechanic worked for Hawaiian travel organizations; Transportation Consultants International, Hawaiian Pacific Resorts and Hotel Corporation of the Pacific.
