Advance/Newhouse Communications manages over two million subscribers in Bright House Networks cable television systems in and around Tampa Bay, Central Florida, Indianapolis, Birmingham, Bakersfield, and Detroit along with several smaller systems in Alabama and panhandle Florida.

Mr. Miron graduated in 1959 with a B.S. from Syracuse University. Since graduation, he has worked for Newhouse in various capacities within radio, television and cable fields. He has been the CEO of Newhouse cable television interests since 1974.

Bob Miron was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) in 1983, currently serving as Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee; he is also a past NCTA Chairman, serving in 1989 and 1997.

Bob Miron has served on the Board of Directors of Discovery Communications, Inc., since 1985. He also serves on the Board of Walter Kaitz Foundation. In addition, he serves on the Executive Committee of CableLabs, C-SPAN, and the NCTA. Bob Miron is currently a Vice Chairman and member of the Executive Committee of the Syracuse University Board of Trustees.

He was a past Chairman and member of a number of NCTA committees, including Cable-in-the-Classroom, the Cable TV Science & Technology Policy Caucus and the Public Relations Committee and is currently Chairman of the Music Licensing Committee.

In 1987 Bob Miron was the recipient of the New York State Cable Television Association Chairman’s Award. In 1990 he was recipient of the National Cable Television Association President’s Award and in 1991 their Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership. In 1995 he was awarded the Cable Television Public Affairs Association President’s Award, and in 2001 he was elected to the Cable Television Hall of Fame. He was inducted into Broadcasting & Cable's Hall of Fame in November 2002.

Bob and his wife, Diane, have been married for over 40 years and have three married children (Naomi, Steve, and Lisa) and nine grandchildren.
