Chris Moseley
Former Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Brand Strategy, The Hallmark Channel
Chris Moseley is the former Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Brand Strategy of Hallmark Channel. She helped to make its 2001 U.S. launch the most successful in cable history, and has since played an important role in the network gaining a Top Ten ratings ranking.
In addition to reaching more than 57 million homes in the United States, the Hallmark Channel is seen in over 122 international markets, in 27 languages. The channel is unique in offering great actors in great stories that are masterfully written, directed and produced. “These are powerful, moving stories that stay with you long after the television set is turned off,” Ms. Moseley stated.
Ms Moseley oversaw the network’s marketing and branding efforts, which include advertising in television, print, radio, out-of-home and on the Internet, as well as special programs directed to advertising decision makers and to cable operators. Also under her wing were consumer promotions and special events, as well as the network’s “look and feel” graphics and music.
Hallmark Channel’s quick rise to success is largely attributed to a unique holiday promotional strategy developed by Ms. Mosley, which has driven growth in ratings, advertising sales and distribution. Each promotion is a unique, cross-platform campaign that supports the network’s original programming and provides unique revenue driving opportunities for affiliates.
“The Hallmark Brand is synonymous with holidays, and Hallmark Channel is already a leader in holiday programming,” Ms. Moseley stated. “It’s a natural fit for us, especially since we can offer integrated marketing partnerships with the 4,300 Hallmark Gold Crown® stores.”
The 2003 “Hollywood Holiday Sweepstakes” promotion brought more than 12 million new viewers to the network, and pushed Hallmark Channel into the Top Ten ratings ranking for the first time.
Prior to joining Crown Media in 2000, Ms. Moseley was Executive Vice President of ABC Network Marketing. While there, she implemented the first centralized marketing department for the network, combining Entertainment, News, Sports, Daytime, Print Design, Media, Ad Sales, Partnerships and Promotions, Affiliate Marketing and Special Projects into one division. She was also instrumental in creating campaigns that generated record-breaking audiences for such programs as the Wonderful World of Disney’s “Annie,” “Millennium ABC 2000” and “Super Bowl XXXIV.”
From 1989 to 1999, Ms. Moseley served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Discovery Communications Inc. Under her marketing leadership, Discovery Channel became the number one media brand known for quality and excellence. She spearheaded the launches of 11 other brands in the Discovery family of networks, including TLC, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, Discovery Digital Networks and Discovery Health, as well as Discovery Channel’s own historic international expansion.
Ms. Moseley also helped to launch 39 new products, among them Discovery Channel On-Line, Discovery Channel Stories, Discovery Channel Video and Discovery Channel Catalog.
