Coffee can amplifiers. Signal processors. Vacuum-tubes that glow in the dark. These are just a few of the more than 2,000 pieces of equipment that trace the fascinating history of the cable industry from the transistors of the 1950s to the fiber optics of today.

From twisted pair to coaxial cable, weather sensors to every example of a remote you’ve lost in the couch cushions — nearly any object that can tell the story of cable has a home here.

Remote Controls »

Originally designed for military use during WWI, the first commercial remote controls appeared in the 1940s as garage door openers. In 1950 Zenith Radio Corporation created the first television remote control called "Lazy Bone," which could turn the television on and off and adjust volume, but was not wireless.  Now, instead of getting up from your favorite chair to change the channels, you can use a remote that works upside down and backwards!
