Media Collection

The Barco Library Media Collection contains over 5,000 audiotapes and videotapes in VHS, Beta, U-matic and digital formats. The collection consists of a wide variety of material including speeches, lectures, and interviews from people involved in the cable industry. It also contains material from information sessions and panels from cable industry conventions, training tapes, advertising, and cable network programming.

A vital portion of our media collection is found in our extensive archive of cable programming. We invite you to explore our inventory of network programming as you peruse our media collection.

U-matic Media »

Designed in the late 60s and early 70s, the U-matic format was the forerunner to all modern home video formats. Intended for professional use, this format's design included many advanced features enabling full editing capabilities right from the beginning. The U-matic format was used to record many industry conferences, and our Media Collection includes recordings from both the NCTA and WICT, as well as programming from A&E, Showtime, and TBS.
