The Cable Center and the National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) invited college students
interested in careers in the TV and cable industries to Career
Day on March 2, 2005. They met with top professionals, had
their videos critiqued, and attended breakout sessions. A highlight
of the day was the opportunity for students to talk with anchors,
reporters, photographers, editors, cable industry experts,
and sportscasters. Attendees learned about NATAS membership,
internships, and how to launch their careers.

Critique Session: Students brought videos
on reporting, anchoring, photography, and editing to be critiqued
by the television professionals.
Breakout Sessions: Students could also attend
two breakout sessions, choosing two of the following areas
of interest:
- Anchoring/Reporting
- Photographers/Editors
- Sports
- Cable Industry Panel


NATAS was
founded in 1957. It is dedicated to the advancement of the
arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative
leadership for artistic, educational, and technical achievements
within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in
television with the coveted Emmy Award for News, Sports, Daytime,
Public Service, and Technology.
