The Cable Center Names NYC Home to 2018 Cable Hall of Fame
Celebration to be held April 4, 2018
DENVER – The Cable Center announced today that the 2018 Cable Hall of Fame celebration will be held April 4, in New York City at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. This will be the first time the event is held in the Big Apple.
Once an entertainment venue for Cablevision and currently under renovation, the Ziegfeld Ballroom will open this fall in the former Ziegfeld Theater building. The Ziegfeld hosted Hollywood's top blockbuster movie premieres for decades, earning acclaim as one of the most celebrated venues in the world.
“Start spreading the news. I couldn’t be more excited that the Cable Hall of Fame is moving to the Ziegfeld Ballroom which has been home to great entertainment in the heart of New York City,” said Michael Willner, president and CEO of Penthera Partners and chairman of The Cable Center’s Board of Directors. “The Cable Hall of Fame will continue that tradition. What better place to honor cable and media’s finest!”
Unlike recent years when the celebration moved yearly due to association with NCTA’s annual convention, The Ziegfeld Ballroom will be the home for the Cable Hall of Fame through at least 2020. Honorees for the 2018 class will be named in early October.
Jana L. Henthorn, president and CEO of The Cable Center said, “Coming off an extremely successful 20th celebration in 2017, I am confident in the future growth of the Cable Hall of Fame and The Center’s role in honoring industry luminaries for many years to come.”
The Ziegfeld Theatre opened in 1969 as a single-screen movie theatre. The theatre was named in honor of famed Broadway impresario Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr.
“This is a fantastic location to host the party of the year! The Ballroom provides some unique sponsorship opportunities. We are especially looking for an After Party sponsor worthy of this spectacular evening and venue,” said Henthorn.
“We’re rolling out the red carpet – get ready for your close up,” Willner added.
Since 1998, 127 honorees have been inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame. For more information on the celebration, visit www.cablehalloffame.com.
