A New Kind of Virtual Reality Experience

Making knowledge of media and cable equipment available to everyone

Want to get a better sense of the history and technology that has changed the way we live? Look no further. This page contains a growing number of items available in 360 degree format for your viewing—and learning—pleasure.

This wave virtual reality experience allows you to rotate and view objects as if you are actually holding it in your hand without the need of a HMD.

This VR collection preserves and makes available artistic, historic and technological items of value within the media industry for public research and enjoyment.

In order to fulfill our organization’s purpose, both within the cable industry and without, we see moving into 3D virtual reality as a social and technological necessity.

Why VR and 3D for The Cable Center?

“A picture is worth a thousand words.”

The idiom has it that “an image of a subject conveys its meaning or essence more effectively than a description does”. But if a picture is worth a thousand words, what about an interactive virtual reality (VR) item?

An interactive VR object is a virtual representation of a physical object that you can see from every angle. It means that you can manipulate a VR object, which helps in learning and understanding. In our application, it is even possible to display VR equipment captures with annotations to highlight specific details, making this virtual reality experience as educational as possible.

The Future of Our Online VR Exhibit

In the near future, we plan on adding 360 videos into the VR Cable Center. This will be able to be a social experience in which a group of people can go into the theater, choose an instructional video or oral history interview video Oral History Project and watch it with any number of other people.

Help us realize this vision by Supporting The Center in any way you can. By enabling a virtual meeting place for education, training and research through VR, you will be part of this brave new world. We hope to see you in actual reality at The Cable Center.
